Tool changing on a CNC lathe is a crucial step in the processing procedure. Improper operation may lead to equipment damage or personal injury. The following are the safety precautions that need special attention during the tool changing process:
I. General Safety Specifications
personal protective equipment :
Anti-static work clothes (with tightened cuffs), anti-crush safety shoes (steel toe, impact resistance ≥200J) and protective glasses (anti-splash, light transmittance ≥85%) must be worn.
Do not operate with gloves on. Long hair should be coiled into the work cap to avoid getting caught in rotating parts .
When processing brittle materials (such as cast iron), a dust mask (KN95 grade) should be worn .
2.Check before operation:
Check whether all components and mechanisms of the machine tool are in good condition and whether all buttons can reset automatically .
Confirm that the lubrication system is working properly. If the machine has not been turned on for a long time, manual lubrication is required .
Check whether the tool is installed properly and whether the tool holder locking device is reliable .
3.operating environment :
Make sure the workspace is large enough and there are no obstacles around .
Tools are neatly arranged for easy access .
Do not open the protective door while the program is running.
Ii. Special Requirements for Different Numerical Control Systems
FANUC System
Before automatic tool changing, check the spindle tool position number displayed on the monitor to ensure that the corresponding tool holder has no tool
Check whether the tool magazine number corresponds to the tool number in the controller to avoid the spindle colliding with the tool holder
Parameter K8.2 Control the function of the "Tool Change" button on the operation panel
SIEMENS system
Knowledge of tool rest feedback signals and data transmission from PLC to NC is required
When using the "Tool Replacement Management function "(sister tool function), pay attention to the tool position shielding sequence
The tool change command T="AA" can only change the tool to the 1st tool position
Ⅲ. Key Points for Equipment Status Inspection
1.Tool inspection :
Do not load overweight or extra-long tools into the tool magazine to prevent dropping or collision
The sequential tool selection method must ensure that the tool placement order is correct
Keep the tool holder and tool sleeve clean
2.Location check :
Regularly check if the tool magazine returns to zero position correctly
Check whether the position of the machine tool spindle returning to the tool change point is in place
After the tool setting is completed, a simulated tool change test should be conducted to prevent collisions during formal operation
3.System check :
Check whether the pressure indicated by each pressure gauge is normal
Confirm that the emergency stop button is functioning properly and the safety guard door is closed in place
For the first use or replacement of the program, a no-run verification is required
Iv. Emergency Response Measures
1.exception handling :
In case of any abnormality during processing, press the "emergency stop" button immediately
When there is a power outage, the manual hydraulic valve is used to perform actions such as tool release and tool removal to reset the manipulator
Check the emergency stop button and the wiring connection to rule out the problem of disconnection
2.Fault diagnosis :
Observe the system alarm information and refer to the technical manual according to the alarm code
Use the system self-diagnosis function to view the status of servo load, coordinate position, etc.
The method of hierarchical investigation from the outside to the inside and from mechanical to electrical is adopted
3.Maintenance :
Check the operation of the system cooling fan daily and clean the dust on the filter screen
Check the cable connection status weekly to ensure it is securely plugged in
After processing, remove the chips and wipe the machine tool to keep it clean
V. Special Precautions during Operation
1. When changing tools manually :
Be careful that the tool does not hit the workpiece or fixture
Select the appropriate feed rate
The tool rest should have sufficient rotation distance from the workpiece
2.When automatically changing tools :
The operator should concentrate and observe with the eyes the movement of the blade tip
The right hand controls the adjustment switch to control the running speed of the machine tool drag plate
If a problem is found, press the program stop button in time
3.Other notes :
The measurement of the workpiece must be carried out when the machine tool is stopped
Use tools to remove chips to avoid being scratched
Do not touch the parts of strong electrical devices when the machine tool is powered on
