The method for finding the zero point of the Y-axis in a turning and milling compound

1.Manual tool setting ‌ : Use a edge finder or dial indicator to touch the Y-axis reference surface, record the mechanical coordinate values, and then input them into the numerical control system (such as FANUC) to complete the setting ‌

2. Automatic zero return ‌ : When the "zero return" command is executed, the machine tool automatically detects the reference point and records the zero point position ‌

Confirm that the zero point setting of the Y-axis is successful

1. Coordinate verification ‌ : Move the Y-axis to the theoretical zero point (e.g., Y0 in the G54 coordinate system), compare the displayed coordinates with the expected value, and the error should be ≤0.005mm.

2. Trial cutting test ‌ : Process simple contours (such as straight lines), and measure whether the actual dimensions are consistent with the program ‌

1815#‌ : Set APC and APZ to 1 (reset when mechanical zero point is lost).

1241#‌ : Z-axis tool change point coordinates (record after aligning with the robotic arm).

NO033‌ : Return to zero at a low speed (200mm/min is recommended).

NO183‌ : Return to zero direction selection (0 for negative direction, 1 for positive direction).

Solutions for large Y-axis movement errors

 Mechanical adjustment ‌ :

Check the wear of the guide rails and lead screws, and adjust the screws or washers to correct the error ‌

Check the repeat positioning accuracy of the drag plate with a dial indicator, and adjust the lead screw clearance or replace the bearing ‌

parameter optimization ‌ :

Pitch error compensation is carried out through the numerical control system (such as SINUMERIK 820D). After inputting the compensation value, it takes effect upon re-power-on.

system check ‌ :

Verify whether the electronic gear ratio and step Angle parameters have been damaged. If necessary, correct them by measuring with a dial indicator ‌
