The tool change failure of a turning and milling compound machining center may be caused by multiple reasons such as spindle orientation, tool magazine positioning, insufficient air pressure or mechanical component failure. The following is the specific analysis:
Abnormal spindle orientation
Cause: The spindle end face key is not parallel to the X-axis, or the detection parameters of the Hall element are offset (such as abnormal PA-39 parameters).
Solution: Check the status of the synchronous toothed belt of the main shaft, adjust the parameters of the main shaft servo driver, and ensure the accuracy of the orientation Angle.
Tool magazine location fault
Cause: Proximity switch detachment, deviation in the rotation Angle of the tool magazine or offset of the tool change point position.
Solution: Reinstall or replace the proximity switch, calibrate the rotation Angle of the tool magazine, and check whether the mechanical coordinates are consistent with the set tool change point
Insufficient air pressure or hydraulic pressure
Cause: Damage to pneumatic components, air pressure lower than the standard (such as below 0.5MPa), or insufficient hydraulic oil.
Solution: Check the pressure gauge reading, clean or replace pneumatic components, replenish hydraulic oil and inspect pipeline leaks.
Wear of mechanical components
Reasons: Insufficient travel of the tool release mechanism, the pull pin not fully loosened, or foreign objects stuck between the tool holder and the taper hole of the main shaft.
Solution: Adjust the travel of the loose tool, clean the foreign objects in the taper hole, and replace the worn pull pins or tool holders.
Abnormality of the electrical system
Cause: PLC output failure, relay damage or circuit break.
Solution: Check the signal status through the IO monitoring screen, replace the faulty relay or repair the circuit.
Other factors
Operational error: Misoperation caused the tool change origin to shift, and it is necessary to reset to zero for calibration.
Excessive weight of the cutting tool: Exceeding the allowable weight of the equipment (usually 10-15kg), a lightweight cutting tool needs to be replaced.
