Turret milling machines are widely used general processing equipment in mechanical processing workshops. The standard details during the operation process are directly related to personnel safety, equipment lifespan and processing accuracy. All operators must strictly abide by the following full-process precautions.

Ⅰ. Precautions for Preparation Before Assignment

1.Operators must pass specialized training and assessment before taking up their posts. Before work, they should wear work clothes, safety shoes and goggles as per the regulations. It is strictly prohibited to operate rotating parts with gloves on. Long hair must be completely tucked into the work cap.

2. Before starting up, conduct a comprehensive inspection of the equipment status: confirm that the appearance of the machine body is undamaged, all connection parts are not loose, electrical circuits are not exposed or aged, and emergency stop buttons, safety guards and other protective devices are in good condition and effective.

3. Add lubricating oil strictly in accordance with the equipment lubrication chart. Check that the oil level in the lubrication system and the water level in the cooling system are within the standard range. Conduct a no-load test run to confirm that the equipment has no abnormal noise or vibration. It is strictly prohibited to operate the equipment when it is faulty.

4. Workpieces must be firmly clamped on the worktable surface with special fixtures. Heavy workpieces should be properly protected by counterweights. Before installing the cutting tool, check that the tool holder and the blade have no cracks or damages. After clamping, manually turn the tool by hand to confirm that there is no interference between the tool and the workpiece or fixture.

Ⅱ. Precautions for Operation during the Processing

1.Before starting the equipment, make sure that all operation handles and speed change gears are in the correct positions. It is strictly prohibited to start the spindle directly when the tool is in contact with the workpiece. Run the machine idle for 3 to 5 minutes to ensure that the spindle operates smoothly before starting the tool setting operation.

2. During the tool setting stage, when approaching the workpiece, it is necessary to switch to manual low-speed feed. It is strictly prohibited to directly use rapid feed to collide with the workpiece. For the first trial cut, a small cutting feed is adopted. After verifying the accuracy of the coordinate Settings and tool paths, the parameters are gradually adjusted to the preset Settings.

3. Set cutting parameters reasonably: In conventional processing, the cutting depth should not exceed 10% to 15% of the tool diameter. For hard materials, the feed rate should be reduced simultaneously to prevent tool breakage and workpiece flying out due to overloading of cutting force. Before the automatic tool feed, the worktable handwheel must be pulled out and the limit stop blocks adjusted in advance to prevent the lead screw from being damaged due to overtravel.

4. Throughout the processing process, operators must not leave their posts without permission. They should constantly monitor the state of the chips: normal chips should be uniformly curled. If the chips turn red, are in powder form, or if the equipment makes abnormal noises, experiences severe vibration, or emits smoke, the emergency stop button must be pressed immediately to shut down the machine for inspection.

5. It is strictly prohibited to measure workpieces, clean iron filings or adjust the clamping position when the equipment is in operation. When cleaning iron filings, a special brush or iron hook must be used. It is forbidden to pull directly by hand or blow directly with compressed air to prevent high-temperature iron filings from splashing and injuring people.

Ⅲ. Precautions for Post-work Finishing and Daily Maintenance

1.After processing is completed, stop the feed first, then turn off the spindle. Wait until the equipment has come to a complete stop before disassembling the workpiece and the cutting tool. It is strictly prohibited to reach out and touch the workpiece or tool before the spindle has completely stopped rotating.

2. Clean the iron filings and cutting fluid in the worktable surface and the gaps of the guide rails in a timely manner. Keep the basic transmission components such as the bed guide rails and lead screws clean and lubricated to reduce the loss of geometric accuracy caused by long-term wear.

3. Organize the cutting tools and fixtures and place them in the designated positions. Turn off the main power and gas supply of the equipment. Fill in the equipment operation and maintenance record. If any potential equipment faults are found, report them in time and hand them over to professional maintenance personnel for handling. It is strictly forbidden to disassemble the core components of the equipment privately.
