I. Preparatory Work

Replacing the lead screw requires disassembly and installation, so it is necessary to prepare the required tools, such as wrenches, hammers, screwdrivers, etc., as well as some cleaning tools, such as brushes, gloves, cleaning agents, etc.

2. Disassemble the old lead screw

First of all, the power supply of the lathe needs to be turned off and the power plug unplugged to ensure safety.

2. Confirm the position of the old lead screw and then use a wrench to remove the nut from the lead screw.

3. Remove all screws and brackets that connect the old lead screw.

4. Gently tap the old lead screw with a hammer to separate it from the bearing.

5. Remove the old lead screw and clean it.

Iii. Cleaning

After removing the old lead screw, the lathe needs to be cleaned and other parts checked for any problems.

2. Use cleaning agents and brushes and other tools to thoroughly clean the bearings, ensuring that all dirt and dust are removed.

3. Inspect the other parts of the lathe to see if there is any damage or need for replacement.

Four. Install the new lead screw

After disassembling the old lead screw, place the new lead screw on the bearing and confirm its position.

2. Connect the bracket to the bolts or screws on the lathe base to ensure it is securely fixed.

3. Insert the new lead screw into the bearing and then make fine adjustments to it to ensure there is no noise when it rotates.

4. Fix the nuts and screws connecting the new lead screw and ensure they are securely fastened.

V. Test the new lead screw

After installing the new lead screw, a test is required.

2. Start the lathe and observe whether the new lead screw rotates normally.

3. Check whether the lathe generates abnormal noise and vibration when rotating.

After the test is completed, make sure the new lead screw is installed correctly and turn off the power of the lathe.

Vi. Conclusion and Summary

Replacing the lead screw is one of the more important tasks in lathe maintenance, which requires careful operation to ensure safety and normal operation. Before replacing the lead screw, adequate preparations should be made. At the same time, during the operation, caution should be exercised to avoid causing damage to the lathe and oneself.
