To replace the reset spring of the milling machine spindle, the key is to safely remove the old spring and precisely install the new one , ensuring that the snap and the T-pin are correctly engaged. The following are the detailed steps:
1. Prepare the tools
You need to prepare: 4mm and 8mm Allen wrenches, flat-head screwdrivers, copper rods, bench vise, and new reset springs.
2. Remove the old spring
Use an 8mm Allen wrench to remove the shaft pin, and then take off the feed handle and the 12-hole seat in sequence.
Remove the fixing screws of the spring cover with a 4mm Allen wrench.
Use a flat-head screwdriver to separate the spring clip from the T-pin of the feed shaft, and then carefully pull out the spring cover.
Use pliers to clamp the spring cover and remove the damaged old spring.
3. Install the new spring
Align the buckle of the new spring with the slot of the spring cover and use a copper rod to hammer the spring into the spring cover.
Use a bench vise to clamp the spring cover and tap the spring snap tightly to ensure it is secure.
Reinstall the spring cover onto the feed shaft, rotate the spring cover to attach the internal snap to the T-pin.
Use a 4mm Allen wrench to rotate the spring cover half a turn to increase the elasticity, and then fix the screws.
4. Reset and test
Reinstall the 12-hole seat, the feed handle and the shaft nail in sequence.
Conduct a no-load test to check if the spindle bounces back smoothly without any jamming.
Key points to note
Safety first : When removing the spring cover, be sure to use a tool to hold it in place to prevent the spring from bouncing back and injuring people.
snap in place : During installation, the internal snap of the spring must be accurately inserted into the T-pin, which is the key to generating elastic force.
Rotational force increase : After installation, rotating the spring cover by half a turn can effectively increase the elastic force and ensure the reset effect.
