Common causes and solutions for alarms in the spindle driver of CNC lathes

1. Mechanical load issue

 Cause ‌ : Spindle jamming, bearing damage or severe tool wear may lead to overload alarm ‌

 Solution ‌ : Inspect the mechanical transmission part, clear any stuck foreign objects, and replace worn components.

2. Motor failure

 Cause ‌ : short circuit of the motor winding, broken rotor bars or damage to the magnetic tachometer switch.

 solution to ‌ : test the insulation of the motor winding and the DC resistance, and repair or replace the motor; Check and adjust the installation distance of the magnetic tachometer switch (0.1 to 0.15mm).

3. Driver failure

 Cause ‌ : damage to the power module, abnormality in the current detection circuit or improper parameter setting ‌

 solves ‌ :

Check the driver alarm code and repair or replace the faulty module ‌

Reset reasonable overload protection parameters and acceleration and deceleration times ‌

Confirm the selection of the common power supply (PS) and check the input power supply voltage ‌

4. Issues with the cooling system and power supply

 Cause ‌ : The cooling fan is damaged, the heat sink is clogged, or the power supply voltage is abnormal ‌

 Solution ‌ : Clean the cooling system and replace the damaged fan; Check the power line and stabilize the input voltage ‌

5. System parameters and alarm shielding

 Cause ‌ : Incorrect parameter Settings or turret alarm prevent the spindle from rotating ‌

 solves ‌ :

Enter the parameter interface and adjust the relevant parameters (for example, change the 2808 parameter to 05) ‌

Shielding the alarm by ladder diagram (e.g., disconnecting the 246.3 alarm coil) ‌

6. Encoder and Feedback Signal

 Cause ‌ : loss of encoder signal or poor connection ‌

 solution ‌ : Check the encoder cable and reinsert the connector; Replace the damaged encoder.

General exclusion steps

 Check the alarm code ‌ : determine the fault type ‌ according to the prompts on the control panel

Consult manual ‌ : Refer to the equipment manual or online resources for specific solutions ‌

 Check the power supply and connection ‌ : ensure that the power supply voltage is normal and the motor and driver are firmly connected ‌

 Contact technical support ‌ : if the problem remains unsolved, contact the manufacturer for professional assistance ‌

When modifying parameters or shielding alarms, it should be done in the emergency stop state, and the modified position should be recorded for restoring ‌
