Ⅰ. Standardized operation is the foundation
Tool installation specification : When installing the tool, make sure to press it all the way down to ensure that the clamp key engages with the keyway of the tool. After installation, check if the tool is shaking.
Do not use beyond specifications: It is strictly prohibited to use tools that exceed the specified weight and length of the tool magazine to avoid overloading.
Correct use of tool mandrel : Only the tool mandrel of the specified model of the equipment must be used, and they must not be mixed.
Standardize the tool changing process : Ensure that the tool changing point is set correctly and the spindle is accurately positioned before changing the tool to avoid misoperations such as emergency stops.
Ⅱ. Regular maintenance is the key
Daily inspection :
Check if the air pressure is normal (usually no less than 0.4MPa).
Check whether the signals such as the tool change point protection switch and the counting switch are normal.
Clean the chips and oil stains on the cutter head and guide rails.
Regular maintenance :
Lubricate the moving parts such as the cutter head motor, coupling and cylinder regularly as per the instructions.
Check and tighten any loose mechanical parts (such as couplings and stops).
Regularly calibrate the mechanical position accuracy of the tool magazine and the spindle.
Ⅲ. Meticulous management is the guarantee
Tool management institutionalization : Establish tool ledgers, standardize tool numbering, specification, and life management, and enhance operator training.
Tool condition monitoring : Regularly inspect the wear of tools, and replace severely worn tools in a timely manner to avoid affecting processing and equipment.
Keep the environment clean : Keep the processing environment clean to reduce the erosion of equipment by dust and oil stains.
Iv. List of Common Fault Prevention
| Fault phenomenon | Precautionary measures |
| The tool magazine does not move | Regularly check the air pressure, power supply, motor and circuit. Ensure that the directional control valve and the cylinder are working properly. |
| The tool magazine does not move smoothly | Regularly clean foreign objects from the guide rails; Check the air pressure adjustment; Ensure the precise positioning of the main shaft. |
| The tool fell off when changing the tool | Regularly check whether the knife sleeve is in good condition. Check whether the weight and length of the cutting tool comply with the specifications. Calibrate the position of the tool magazine and the spindle. |
| The cutter head is not operating smoothly | Check the cutter head motor, frequency converter and circuit connection; Adjust the tightness of the coupling; Check whether the counting switch is functioning properly. |
| The tool magazine does not return after tool change | Check the air pressure of the knife cutting cylinder, the cylinder and the solenoid valve. Check the return signal of the main shaft reference point and the detection switch; Check the logic of the PLC program. |
| There is an abnormal noise when changing the tool | Regularly calibrate the position and reference points of the tool magazine; Calibrate the positioning accuracy of the main shaft; Inspect and tighten or replace worn mechanical parts. |
| The tool magazine has incorrect counting or random tools | Check and replace the faulty counting switch; Check the logic of the PLC counting program; Standardize the operation to avoid misoperation during the tool changing process. |
